United States and United Kingdom agree to jointly target crypto scams
The United States and United Kingdom formalized a memorandum of understanding to coordinate investigations and prosecutions of crypto investment scams, the Justice Department said. The pact links the US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, England and Wales' Crown Prosecution Service and the UK National Crime Agency and sets protocols for simultaneous probes, intelligence sharing and joint jurisdictional decisions. Authorities have scheduled a disruption operation with private-sector collaborators in London in October and said the pact expands the Scam Center Strike Force targeting Chinese-run fraud compounds in Southeast Asia. FBI data showed $8.65 billion lost to crypto investment fraud in 2025.
