Bitcoin.com adds UAE-registered USDU stablecoin to wallet
Bitcoin.com added USDU, the US dollar–backed stablecoin registered with the Central Bank of the UAE, to its self-custodial wallet on web and mobile on August 19, 2026, via a partnership with Universal Digital Intl. Limited. USDU is an ERC-20 token backed 1:1 by dollar reserves held at Emirates NBD and Mashreq, with monthly independent attestations and a CertiK-audited smart contract; Universal Digital is regulated by the Abu Dhabi Global Market’s FSRA. The integration marks USDU’s first major retail distribution, but the token remains limited to professional clients and designated use cases, and no public market cap or circulating supply is available.
Bitcoin.com now supports CBUAE-registered USDU in its self-custodial wallet.
Context
USDU was registered by the Central Bank of the UAE in January 2026. It had mostly been used by institutions. Bitcoin.com adding it could extend use to retail self-custody users, though current use remains limited to professional clients.
