Russian Tu-95 bomber crashes in Amur region

One of Russia's Tu-95 strategic bombers crashed during a training flight in the Amur region, killing six crew members and injuring a seventh who was hospitalized. The defense ministry said the plane was not carrying ammunition and the crew diverted it away from residential buildings during an emergency landing near Krasnoyarovo after takeoff from Ukrainka air base. The loss further reduces Moscow's long-range, nuclear-capable bomber force at a time when maintenance issues, spare parts shortages, and past Ukrainian attacks have already trimmed operational Tu-95 numbers, and the Kremlin no longer can build new Tu-95 airframes.
