Iraq seeks to boost oil exports to 8 to 10 million bpd
Iraq's prime minister Ali al-Zaidi said the government aims to increase oil exports to 8 to 10 million barrels per day within six years, working inside the OPEC+ framework after wartime disruptions choked the Strait of Hormuz. Before the conflict, Iraq produced about four million barrels per day and exported roughly 105 million barrels monthly, mostly via Basra and Hormuz. The war forced production halts and rerouting by tanker truck through Syria and by pipeline to Ceyhan; exports fell, then recovered slightly to about 49 million barrels in July with more than 30 million via the strait, and averaged two million barrels per day in early August.
