Judge orders Google to simplify third-party app store installs
A US district judge found that Google's initial implementation of a court-ordered requirement to list third-party app stores in the Play Store created unnecessary "anticompetitive friction." The court reviewed the process for accessing Aptoide, the first non-Google store listed, and cited buried links, poor search behavior and an extra "view" dialog instead of an "install" button. Judge James Donato ordered Google to change wording variations and replace the view button with an install button within one week.
