Families sue Meta, TikTok, Snap and YouTube over teen suicides

The families of four teenagers who died by suicide filed a complaint in the Superior Court of Delaware against Meta, TikTok, Snap and YouTube, alleging years of escalating harms from platform use that culminated in addiction, severe sleep deprivation, depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. The Social Media Victims Law Center brought the suit for families in Texas, North Carolina, Minnesota and Tennessee, covering deaths from July 2024 through September 2025, and alleges the companies knew of the harms. The case adds to a flurry of similar suits and intensifies debate amid stalled federal online safety legislation.
