Bull sources 70% of supercomputer components in Europe
Bull said it can now source about 70% of the components in the machines it builds in Europe, up from 20–30% five years ago, including boards, interconnects, cooling systems and increasingly processors, and it cited progress on European processor projects such as SiPearl, Vsora and Openchip. The chief executive said memory is the last major component without a European supplier, that memory prices have risen sharply, and that Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron produce over 90% of memory worldwide, leaving continued dependence and cost pressure for supercomputer builds.
