Nigeria police deploys 15,000 for Osun governorship
Nigeria police announced a major security operation for the August 15 Osun State governorship election, saying it will treat the poll as a federal assignment and deploy roughly 15,000 personnel including commissioners, assistant inspectors-general, Police Mobile Force operatives and specialised units, commissioner CP Samuel Erale Etaifo said. Etaifo said anyone arrested for serious electoral offences will be taken out of Osun State to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for investigation and prosecution, and that erring officers who collude with politicians will face disciplinary action to protect the credibility of the vote.
