Police bar Amotekun and vigilantes from Osun election security

The Nigeria Police Force Zone 11 headquarters in Osogbo announced that only the Nigeria Police Force and other constitutionally recognised security agencies will provide security for the August 15 Osun State governorship election, explicitly barring the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun), vigilante groups, neighbourhood watch outfits and other quasi-security organisations. The zonal police public relations officer said deployed personnel must be properly identified and wear approved uniforms, and warned that anyone conducting unauthorised security activities or intimidating voters would be arrested and prosecuted under the Electoral Act. The command urged cooperation with INEC and said security arrangements are in place.

Only constitutionally recognized agencies will guard the August 15 election.
