European Parliament to vote on temporary trade liberalization for Armenia
On September 15 the European Parliament will vote on a draft law to temporarily liberalize trade for goods from Armenia, after the EU Council approved the European Commission's proposal on September 2. The draft would suspend EU customs duties on about 80% of Armenian exports, set tariff quotas for certain agricultural products, and include protective mechanisms for the European market. After the Parliament's formal approval the EU Council must ratify the regulation, which would take effect the day after publication and be applied for two years under conditions including rules of origin and CEPA compliance.
