Iran and U.S. seize control of Strait of Hormuz
2 min read
On day 135 of the Iran War, Iran and the United States each declared they now command the Strait of Hormuz after a weekend of attacks across the Gulf and a U.S. military strike that targeted about 140 sites, including missile and drone launch locations, ammunition dumps and communications equipment. The escalation followed Iran striking a container ship in the strait and other attacks that hit Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Oman, undermining diplomacy as the two sides move through the middle of a 60-day interim deal meant to open talks toward a permanent end to the war.
Both nations now claim control of the Strait of Hormuz.
