Lilly combo therapy outperforms tirzepatide in mid-stage trial
Eli Lilly reported Phase 2 results showing its combination of the amylin drug eloralintide plus tirzepatide produced greater weight loss and bigger a1c reductions than a 15 mg tirzepatide dose alone in people with obesity and type 2 diabetes. The highest combo dose (9 mg eloralintide plus 15 mg tirzepatide) yielded up to 23.3% weight loss and up to 2.9% a1c reduction, versus 14.8% weight loss and 2.4% a1c with tirzepatide alone. Discontinuations for side effects were higher with the combo, and Lilly will test adjusted dosing and a co-formulation in Phase 3.
Combo produced up to 23.3% average weight loss in the trial
