Ivonescimab reduces death risk versus Keytruda in NSCLC
In the phase 3 Harmoni-2 trial conducted in China, Akeso and Summit Therapeutics reported that ivonescimab reduced the risk of death by 27% compared with Keytruda in treatment-naïve, PD-L1-positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer, with median overall survival of 30.8 versus 22.6 months and a p-value of 0.009 at an Aug. 20 cutoff after 234 deaths. The drug showed especially strong benefit in PD-L1-high patients (42% OS improvement) and a 35% benefit in squamous disease, and the readout bolsters confidence in the PD-1xVEGF bispecific class while influencing ongoing trials and program strategies globally.
