Ipsen completes acquisition of Kartos Therapeutics
Ipsen has completed its acquisition of Kartos Therapeutics, adding navtemadlin, an oral MDM2 inhibitor in late-stage development, to its pipeline. Navtemadlin is being tested in the phase III POIESIS study as an add-on to ruxolitinib for patients with myelofibrosis who have a suboptimal response to standard therapy. Early clinical results cited by Ipsen suggest potential improvement in intermediate- and high-risk TP53 wild-type patients. Myelofibrosis affects about 1.5 people per 100,000 in the U.S. and Europe, has a median diagnosis age of 67 to 69, and many patients discontinue ruxolitinib within three years.
