Sudan is experiencing widespread clinic closures after international donor funding fell and several aid organisations ended support, including the cessation of many grants after USAID closed in 2025. Médecins Sans Frontières reports that with organisations pulling out, local clinics lack funds and medicines, forcing patients into longer journeys and increasing pressure on remaining hospitals; MSF saw a 22.5 percent admissions rise in Zalingei and Rokero between January and April 2026. In May, 45 general healthcare centres in Central Darfur lost support, the UN response plan is only 41 percent funded, and an estimated 37 percent of health facilities are out of service.
