Dengue cases rise 34.8% in Malaysia
3 min read

Dengue cases in Malaysia rose 34.8% to 42,848 as of July 9, with dengue-related deaths up 78.9% to 34 compared with the same period last year, the Health Ministry said. About 63.5% of cases were reported in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, with Selangor recording 19,313 cases and Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya 7,909. The ministry linked the increase to dengue's three-to-five-year cycle and drivers like serotype shifts, weather conditions and urban breeding sites, and said it will intensify integrated vector management, surveillance, risk communication and community action to curb transmission and prevent further deaths.
