Bangladesh launches preventive oral cholera vaccination campaign

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hussain inaugurated the Preventive Oral Cholera Vaccination Campaign-2026 and urged timely treatment to avoid dehydration-related deaths. The campaign offers free oral vaccine to all citizens aged one year and above except pregnant women, with first doses in 14 high-risk upazilas from August 22 to September 21 and second doses from September 26 to October 25, with a recommended 14-day interval. A total of 51.75 lakh people are targeted nationwide, including about 11.70 lakh in Dhaka South City Corporation through 192 centres, while VAXEPI e-health cards will record vaccinations for monitoring.
