3 min read

Two children in Kanker district died of cerebral malaria on July 25 and 26, and five other children are admitted to Kanker Government Medical College Hospital, officials said. A third child from a tribal residential school who had earlier been treated for malaria recently died and his body was exhumed for a post-mortem; the preliminary autopsy did not indicate malaria and a detailed report is pending. Health authorities said positive cases began surfacing from July 24 and that they have adequate stocks of testing kits and medicines while expanding screening and treatment in hostels and villages.
Two children died and five remain hospitalised with malaria.
