Stuttgart festival highlights Malayalam cinema in July 2026

The 23rd Stuttgart Indian Film Festival runs from July 23 to July 26, 2026, and will present more than 70 films including features, documentaries and shorts with a special focus on Malayalam cinema. Organisers said the edition is shortened to just under four days because of reduced funding from the City of Stuttgart, but programming will still cover social issues, culture, identity, tradition and LGBTQIA+ stories. The festival opens with the Malayalam thriller 'Eko' by Dinjith Ayyathan, includes nominated films across categories, and will screen documentaries such as 'Saath Paar Zindagi - Life Beyond 60'.
