Permian teacher named to Texas Classroom Commission

4 min read

Permian High School teacher Dawnna Talley was named to Gov. Greg Abbott's Texas Classroom Commission, a 21-member panel chaired by Courtney Boswell MacDonald that brings together practicing educators from across the state. Talley teaches English II, serves as a multi-classroom leader and department chair, and said she will listen and share classroom perspectives when the group meets. The commission will build on prior interim workgroups whose efforts led to increased special education funding, raised teacher compensation and other policy shifts, so its work could shape forthcoming statewide education policy and teacher supports.

A 21-member commission will advise statewide public education policy.
