Kent and Greenwich merge to form LASE super-university

Kent and Greenwich have merged to create the London and South East University Group, to be known as LASE, which will span four campuses across London, Medway and Kent and enrol more than 50,000 students, making it the third largest university in the UK. The institutions will remain as distinct academic divisions and students will continue to apply to and graduate from the institution they choose. The official launch is set for 7 September, one year after their merger plans were announced, and the move is presented as a financially stronger model amid regulator warnings about provider insolvency.
