South African police raided a farm near Musina in Limpopo after a two-month probe and arrested five people including two Mexican nationals, two Zimbabweans and a Malawian. Officers seized drugs, production equipment and an undisclosed amount of cash with an estimated value of about 600m rand. The suspects will appear in court on Monday on manufacturing and possession charges. The raid fits a pattern of large crystal meth laboratories found on remote farms in South Africa and other African countries, and officials including Africom and the UN say geography and porous borders make the continent attractive for production and transit, raising regional law enforcement and public health concerns.
