Serbia asks Hague court to release Mladic
Serbia's justice minister Nenad Vujic has asked the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals to reconsider a family request to release Ratko Mladic on health grounds after the IRMCT last week rejected a similar defence plea. Vujic cited a detention unit medical officer who said Mladic had entered the final phase of life and offered transfer to Belgrade's Military Medical Academy with court-imposed monitoring. Mladic, arrested in 2011, is serving a life sentence for genocide and related crimes from the 1992–95 Bosnian war, and the court said his condition alone did not justify early release.
