Police probe officers over alleged RM2 million extortion

Police in Kuala Lumpur are investigating 12 officers accused of extorting RM2 million from a foreign national, sources said. The victim was reportedly released after paying US$140,000 (RM572,669) to the suspects and later filed a complaint at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters, which triggered an internal probe. Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam confirmed the case and said further details will be provided as the investigation progresses. The probe could lead to disciplinary or criminal outcomes for officers if allegations are substantiated, and authorities are examining the extent of the demand and payments.

Twelve police officers are under investigation for alleged extortion.
