2 min read

Three crew members — captain Kevin Price, 40, and crew Rondell Dwayne Roberts, 42, and Delon Granderson, 33 — were charged with murder more than a week after the MV Barima sank on July 18 while travelling from Georgetown to Port Kaituma. The 87-year-old ship’s sinking killed 73 people and left 30 still missing; authorities rescued 76 and believe 179 were on board. The case was adjourned to August 3 and the government has opened a commission of inquiry amid reports of crew drug tests and manifest irregularities.
