Judge rejects Kohli bid to avoid US extradition
A British judge on August 19 rejected former Saitama CEO Manpreet Kohli's challenge to a US extradition request and referred the case to the UK government for a decision. Kohli, who remains free on £200,000 bail and can appeal, faces US charges including wire fraud, market manipulation, conspiracy and operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business related to the Ethereum-based Saitama token. US prosecutors say he made about $20 million and that 18 people coordinated wash trading in an investigation called Operation Token Mirrors; Gotbit later admitted manipulation, forfeited $23 million, and its founder received an eight-month sentence.
