Department for Education hacked, contact data leaked

The Department for Education said hackers accessed its help desk and Turing Scheme systems, and dark web posts reportedly showed names and phone numbers of thousands of school leaders, university staff and government officials. Reports say about 607,000 records were taken, including full names, job titles and email addresses, and a group called ExfilSquad has claimed responsibility. DfE says the data is limited to customer service contact details and is working with the Information Commissioner's Office, the National Crime Agency and the National Cyber Security Centre while it fixes portals and shifts telephone communication during maintenance.
