Iran executes man convicted of driving into police during protests
Iran executed Shahram Sadeghi, who was convicted over a January 8 car attack on police in Karaj that reportedly injured seven officers and left one in a coma for three months. The Karaj Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death and confiscation of assets for what authorities described as an "operational action" in favour of Israel, the United States and hostile groups under Iran's espionage law, and the Supreme Court upheld the ruling. The judiciary said the sentence was carried out early on Sunday. The EU and 26 countries issued a joint condemnation and called for an end to executions and arbitrary detentions.
