Drug baron and foreigners arraigned over industrial meth lab

Federal authorities arraigned 11 suspects, including a 63-year-old alleged drug baron and three Mexican nationals, after coordinated NDLEA raids between 16 and 18 May uncovered a clandestine industrial methamphetamine laboratory in Mowe, Ogun State. Officials say 2,419.48 kilograms of meth and large quantities of precursor chemicals were recovered, and vehicles used to move precursors were identified. The defendants face 11 counts under the NDLEA Act and pleaded not guilty; they were remanded and have trial-related hearings set for 16 and 22 July. The agency described the case as evidence of growing transnational cartel activity using Nigeria as a manufacturing base.
