FBI forges law enforcement ties with China and Russia

FBI director Kash Patel said the bureau has created personnel exchanges and joint operations with Chinese and Russian law enforcement over the past year to tackle transnational crime including fentanyl, cyber fraud and child sexual exploitation. The cooperation is organized in four working groups and has produced actions such as Operation Sand Dollar, which led to 300 arrests, $300 million seized and thousands of trafficked workers freed, and a multinational child abuse takedown from an Omaha field office. The moves have generated operational results but also heightened counterintelligence concerns about access and infiltration, even as the FBI says it vets visitors and deploys safeguards.
