Autopsy finds Tennessee man shot in back by Guard members
An autopsy provided to the family of 20-year-old Tyrin Johnson found a single bullet entered the right side of his back and exited the upper right chest, a trajectory a forensic reviewer said is consistent with running away. The report found no evidence of an extremely close-range shot. That physical finding conflicts with a Tennessee National Guard report and an investigative narrative saying Johnson drew a firearm and turned toward troops. The medical examiner classified the death as a homicide, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the probe is open, and the family has asked for surveillance footage.
