US launches strikes as explosions reported across southern Iran

Multiple explosions were reported early Sunday across southern Iran after the US launched fresh strikes, state broadcasters and the Mehr News Agency said. Iranian outlets listed blasts in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar, Dayyer in Bushehr province, Asaluyeh, Jask, Qeshm Island and other Hormozgan locations, and no casualties or damage were reported. The US Central Command said the strikes were a third round this week and were carried out in response to an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attack on a Cyprus-flagged container ship in the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to degrade Iran's ability to target commercial shipping.
