2 min read

The UAE led Operation Green Shield in July with Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil under the International Initiative of Law Enforcement for Climate (I2LEC). Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced that over 17 days authorities carried out 1,045 field operations, detained 839 suspects and confiscated equipment and other assets linked to environmental offences valued at more than $280 million. The operation aims to curb transnational environmental crime in the Amazon basin and demonstrates a model for coordinated international law enforcement action and stronger cross-border environmental protection.
