UN rights chief urges evacuation of stranded sailors
UN rights chief Volker Turk urged countries to evacuate and repatriate about 6,000 sailors stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, his spokeswoman Shabia Mantoo said, calling for safe passage, disembarkation and delivery of critical supplies. Preliminary shiptracking data from Kpler showed daily transits were steady at three vessels from July 22 to July 24. Recent vessel movements included VLCC Romania Prosperity off Fujairah with Murban crude and VLCC New Giant carrying 2 million barrels of Iraqi Basrah crude bound for China, while the US military said it completed a 13th consecutive night of strikes on Iran.
