Saudi Arabia routes crude to Asia via ship-to-ship transfers
Saudi Aramco has offered additional September cargoes to Asian buyers using ship-to-ship transfers off Fujairah and Sohar, after data showed tankers moving through the Strait of Hormuz with tracking systems switched off. The arrangement splits voyages: Aramco moves crude through the Hormuz risk zone, then transfers cargo to other tankers outside the strait for delivery to buyers. Two VLCCs carrying a combined four million barrels were reported headed to China for Sinopec after transfers off Sohar, and Aramco has also resumed loading at Ras Tanura while routing some crude west via the East-West pipeline and Sidi Kerir.
