The United Arab Emirates said its air-defense systems intercepted an Iranian-origin drone over its territorial waters on Aug. 31, calling the incident a dangerous escalation and reserving the right to respond under international law while not identifying the drone model, launch site or intended target. Iran's army separately claimed it launched dozens of drones at areas housing U.S. helicopters and personnel at Al Minhad Air Base, saying the action was retaliation for a U.S. strike on Larak Island on Aug. 30.
