Iran says U.S. naval blockade closed Strait of Hormuz

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the closure of the Strait of Hormuz resulted from what he called aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime and from use of military bases in the region. He described ongoing U.S. naval blockade measures as an "act of aggression" under UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 and said the strait will remain insecure while hostile actions continue. Baghaei said talks with Oman are bilateral to determine a safe route for international shipping and that opening depends on the U.S. ending illegal actions, lifting the blockade, and compensating for damage.
