Co-ordinated cyber-attacks disrupt US water systems; possible Iran link

US state and federal agencies are investigating a wave of coordinated cyber-attacks that hit more than 30 Minnesota water systems and were reported in seven states, with some activity degrading water operations. US authorities, including the FBI and Cisa, are probing attribution and a possible Iranian connection, and experts point to groups such as Handala that have previously targeted US and Israeli infrastructure. The incidents highlight aging control devices and the large number of public water utilities in the US, and have prompted immediate mitigation advice from Cisa to remove systems from the internet and reset passwords.
