Tencent in talks to buy Manus from Meta
1 min read
Tencent is in talks to become Manus' largest shareholder as the Chinese gaming and internet company and Manus' original investors, including ZhenFund and HSG, plan to buy the AI startup back from Meta for no less than $2 billion, according to people briefed on the matter. The talks follow a Beijing order that required Meta to unwind its $2 billion acquisition of Manus. The Financial Times first reported the negotiations and Reuters said the companies did not immediately respond to requests for comment. If completed, the deal would return Manus to largely Chinese ownership and underscore regulatory influence over cross-border tech deals.
Tencent and partners plan to buy Manus for at least $2 billion.
