Microchip to acquire Hailo edge AI company

Microchip Technology announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hailo, a supplier of accelerated edge AI processors, vision SoCs, robotics processors and AI software flows, with the transaction expected to close toward the quarter ending September 30 subject to approvals. Terms were not disclosed and Microchip said the deal is not expected to have a material impact on its financial results. The acquisition brings Hailo-8, Hailo-10 and Hailo-15 products, more than 100 current customers and a developer community of over 10,000 users, and is intended to strengthen Microchip's edge AI, vision and embedded processing portfolio.
