SK Hynix warns of worst memory chip shortage in 2027

2 min read

SK Hynix chief executive Kwak Noh-jung warned that the global memory industry faces its worst supply shortage in 2027 as customer demand continues to outpace production capacity, and that demand may exceed supply capacity even beyond 2030. The comments coincided with SK Hynix's Nasdaq debut after selling 177.9 million American depositary shares at $149 each and raising $26.5 billion in the world's second-largest listing. The company is a key supplier of high-bandwidth memory used in Nvidia chipsets and said it is working to address capacity limits amid rising demand.

SK Hynix forecasts the worst memory shortage in 2027.
