Poland joins EU AI gigafactory procurement

Poland has signed a joint procurement agreement with the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking to take part in an EU-wide process to build AI gigafactories. Warsaw seeks to host a medium-scale facility able to support at least 75,000 AI accelerators and has allocated more than 400 million zlotys (about $106 million) while negotiating with private partners to build and operate it. The first procurement round is expected to pick seven gigafactories, with contracts due in early 2027 and facilities planned to begin operating in 2028. Poland is preparing cooperation with the Czech Republic and has support from Lithuania.
