Hackers demand ransom after Manchester Airports data breach
Manchester Airports Group said an unauthorised third party accessed customer car park, lounge, Fast Track booking and on-airport Wi-Fi sign-up data at Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands airports and has demanded a monetary ransom. MAG says it immediately contained the risk, has refused to pay and is working with cyber specialists and relevant authorities. Up to 8.7 million customers may be implicated; accessed fields include email addresses, phone numbers, vehicle registrations and postcodes, while no bank or payment details or aviation security were compromised and airport operations remain unaffected.
