Moonshot AI releases Kimi K3 model for public download

Beijing-based Moonshot AI said it will make the weights for its Kimi K3 model public, letting developers download, modify and host the technology to expand its user base and international influence. Founder Yang Zhilin framed the move as greater availability and openness to compete with US proprietary systems. The release follows similar Chinese open-model launches and could boost cloud AI hosting demand. Moonshot reported daily sales have risen at least sixfold since K3's release and it is seeking a new investment round at a $50 billion valuation ahead of a possible Hong Kong IPO later this year, while US concerns about Chinese intrusion were noted.
