NISAR data shows 60 cm surface shift after Venezuela quake

Satellite images from the NASA-ISRO NISAR mission show the ground shifted as much as 60 centimetres near Caracas after the June 24 twin earthquakes, with predominantly east-west movement on a strike-slip fault. Researchers compared images from June 13 and 18 (prequake) with June 25 and 30 (postquake) using InSAR to map displacement. The rupture propagated offshore then back onshore near the international airport, and NISAR data allowed the USGS to refine a finite fault model. NISAR's urgent response system delivered preliminary maps within 12–24 hours, to be reprocessed with precise orbit data shortly after.
