Xi to visit United States for state talks with Trump
Chinese president Xi Jinping will make a state visit to the United States from September 23 to 25 to hold summit talks with US president Donald Trump, Chinese officials said. The visit comes amid trade tensions, sanctions and competition over artificial intelligence, and follows high-level exchanges including New York talks on economic and AI issues led by Chinese vice premier He Lifeng and US officials. The trip gains added significance after US laws authorise tariffs of up to 100 percent on buyers of Russian oil and gas, even as both sides negotiate a reciprocal tariff reduction framework covering USD 30 billion of trade.
