Xi to attend SCO summit in Bishkek
Chinese president Xi Jinping will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek during a state visit to Kyrgyzstan from August 30 to September 1, the foreign ministry said, at a meeting expected to include leaders such as Indian prime minister Narendra Modi. China is handing over the SCO presidency to Kyrgyzstan after hosting the Tianjin summit last August, where Xi proposed an SCO Development Bank modelled on the BRICS New Development Bank and the AIIB. Officials say Xi will discuss deepening cooperation, and his travel plans include subsequent visits to Egypt, the BRICS summit in New Delhi, and a US summit.
