Canadian NATO intern arrested on suspicion of spying

Belgian authorities said a Canadian intern at NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Command Europe was arrested on suspicion of spying for a third country and of belonging to a criminal organization. The federal prosecutor's office described the woman as "of Chinese origin" but did not name the country or organization. SHAPE security first flagged her near Mons and the case was referred to Belgian intelligence and police, leading to searches of her home and workplace and a judge ordering her detention; prosecutors declined further comment and NATO said operations show no evident impact.
