EU council to approve new sanctions against Russia

2 min read

European Union ministers are set to adopt an additional sanctions package against Russia at the EU Foreign Affairs Council on 13 July, according to European Pravda citing EU sources. The proposals, unveiled by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas after a large-scale Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of 1-2 July, have broad member-state support and were moved from Coreper to the Relex working party on 8 July for final preparation. Media reports say the package is expected to list five legal entities and one individual involved in developing and manufacturing components that enhance Shahed and Geran drones, signalling targeted pressure on Russia's military supply chain.

EU expected to target drone component suppliers in sanctions package.
