Civil society urges neutrality ahead of Osun governorship election

A coalition led by the Election Observation Hub and seven partner organisations urged INEC and the Nigeria Police Force to maintain strict neutrality before the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election. The group pressed INEC to deploy personnel and materials on time and to guarantee transparent operations of BVAS and the IReV portal, while calling on security agencies to use intelligence-led operations in high-risk areas to protect voters, journalists and election materials. Observers said credible processes in Osun could influence public confidence ahead of the 2027 general elections, and they plan statewide observer deployments.
